A departure from the norm 03/17/2011
I have been making lots of things with Indian elephants on them, there is so much scope for decoration and sparkle and my sparkly thread is now running low! It is a bit of a departure from my normal stuff and I have really enjoyed doing them. The cushions are cotton velvet and feel very luxurious! Silky sparkly butterflies..way to go! The velvet frays nicely at the edges giving the wings a rugged edge. I have also been trying my hand at some furniture projects and my next project doesn't involve sewing at all...but it does involve fabric, and furniture. Watch this space! I have been hard at it in the last few days, making some little teeny pictures on a theme of tea time for our local gallery, and some more on a theme of the sea for the fabulous Puffer bar on Easdale Island. I have LOVED doing little tinsy ones and have been thinking much about my Granny who used to handstitch things for her dolls house..little tiny patchwork quilts and rugs and curtains! There is something so sweet about tiny things! ![]() Tea and cakes..yum! Making these pictures reminds me of playing with Fuzzy felt when I was a kid, I used to love that kind of thing, and those sheets of stickers with loads of different shapes that you could create pictures with! Both things I remember playing with at my other Granny's house. The moral of the story - Granny's Rock! ![]() I love these Gisela Graham frames soo much! FINALLY......I have managed to do the website, and I have to recommend www.weebly.com. It's free and easy, even an old buffer like me can do it! As an added bonus it has a blog attached, YAY! So I'm quite pleased with the result! Watch this space, I have been ordering some lovely frames, a sea theme is creeping in, and am even turning my mind to christmas.... |
